Progress on Latest Quilt

I have been making good progress on my latest quilt.

As it emerges I am feeling

that it may be called ‘Woodland Dreams"…time will tell.

The central panel of each block is made with the delicious Collection Etoffe Imprevue by Yoko Saito ..Leaf Stripe in Slate.  I do seem to be drawn to the greys lately.  They go so well with other colors. I had only a fat quarter of this when I started.  It soon became apparent that quilt would grow so I have sent off for more.  Perhaps a small pause would be good so that I can rally more inspiration for the next blocks.  So far I don’t know which is my favorite.

What do you think?

It is fun to feature those girls on swings and scooters from Aneela Hoey.

Can you spot those cats watching the deer?

I have sent off to a lovely Etsy store sewmeasong.

Becca there has posted the parcel..I did manage to choose a few other pieces of fabric there while I was at it.  Wouldn’t you?

Meanwhile keep a look out here because Lori (Stitches N’Giggles)  and I are plotting a new Giveaway.

Visit her store HERE for latest ranges and get your fabric wishes lined up.  Coming Soon!

ATC Swap and Modern Block Inspiration.

Well it’s exciting

to be actually underway with the ATC (Artist’s Trading Card )

Swap

with Michelle at Quilting Blogger.

Today I got the email which gave me the details of the person to whom I will send my trading cards.  I can’t tell you of course because it is all "Secret Squirrel". :)

The further fun is that I won’t be receiving my ATCs from this person, but from and unknown other…surprise person!

I have made up a few cards and am now worried they may not be good enough?  Oh, does that sound familiar?

Meanwhile, I have been enjoying a great book:

"Modern Blocks: 99 Quilt Blocks From Your Favorite Designers", compiled by Susanne Woods, 2011. Published by Stash Books.

After much time poring over these blocks, and even completing one of them and unpicking it due to bad fabric choice, I have at last headed off in a new direction with inspiration from Monica Wintermantel’s House on The Hill Block.

 Thanks Monica!

So here is my first block all laid out and ready to sew.

Oh I am loving these fabrics!

More to come…and you can get your copy here.

Daisy Janie Meets Malka Dubrawsky in Contemporary Quilt.

It has been fun working with the gorgeous fabrics

of both Daisy Janie’s (organic cotton) "Shades of Grey" range,

and Malka Dubrawsky’s "Stitch In Color" range.

One day I started having a play by making some half-square triangles.

One thing led to another and some cute modern blocks appeared.

The main background fabric is Dapple Dot.  Block borders are Ragg Tagg.  Back and binding is Zipper Tape.  These three are all from the "Shades Of Grey" organic cotton range by Daisy Janie.  All still available in my Etsy Store.

The vibrant turquoise of Malka’s fabric was so fun to work with. I bought mine from Stitches N’Giggles.

The quilt measures 33 x 33 inches.

It would make a nice wall hanging.

And I have just listed it in my ETSY STORE…FOR SALE.

“Sail Away” With Upcycled Men’s Shirt Pockets.

Many Thanks to 3 Wise Men

for their kind donation of unused shirt pockets from their great shirts.

I feel I can share some pics of  a baby quilt commission, as I have been told that the quilt has been well received.

I had bought the "Sail Away" pattern from the Gourmet Quilter some time ago…attracted by the very fun sail boats…and was pleased to use this for my quilt.

I have made a few changes too.

Upcycled Men's Business Shirt Pockets make great baby quilt commission.

I have loved working with the gorgeous cotton fabrics from the shirt pockets, and the Daisy Janie organic cotton range "Shades of Grey".

Sail boats happily sailing on a sea of organic cotton by Daisy Janie.

The sea is Zipper Tape, and the sky is Dapple Dot..both from Daisy Janie Fabrics….available from my Etsy Store.

Don’t you just love the cute sail boats?

Organic cotton Ragg Tagg by Daisy Janie makes a great quilt backing.

The binding is made from the lovely "Stitch In Color" range by Malka Dubrawsky.  Having just had fun giving some of her fabric range away, with the help of Lori at Stitches N’ Giggles…I just had to order some for myself.  It had just arrived in the mail when I was deciding on the binding.

The sashings and back are made with Ragg Tagg, also from the "Shades of Grey" range.

I did have fun making the half square triangles for the top and bottom borders..as they have a "sail -like" appearance too.

The colors are definitely better in the quilt itself than in the photos (room for improvement!).

So very satisfying to complete another project.
