More Butterfly Quilt Progress

Hooray, I am up to quilting the Butterfly Quilt.

That is, sewing the 3 layers of the ‘sandwich’ together.

I have opted for 100% wool batting for warmth, loft and deliciousness!

Some weeks ago now I was in Melbourne and managed to do a little stash-building.

Here is what I gathered especially to add in to the Butterfly Quilt.

Amongst the stashing especially for the butterfly quilt is a little Anna Maria Horner voile,

and some Flea Market Fancy by Denise Schmidt.

Just love those sweet daisies on red too.

Cushions Galore And More…

Last weekend I attended a Cushion Making Course

in Wellington.

Had a great day’s activity with "the nerdiest bunch of Cushion-Making Women",

so our teacher told us!  And came home with SIX finished cushions.

Well we were all keen to learn, and the resulting bunch of cushions were all gorgeous

and many I would have loved to have taken home myself.

Over the years I have been stashing fabrics and have often said to myself..

"That would make a great cushion".

I haven’t done a lot about it, apart from making a few with envelope backs and sewn-up edges.

What a thrill to finally tackle the art of inserting an invisible zip…and winning.

Now I am away..

Just love being able to do justice to the beautiful Designers Guild fabric that I have been hoarding for years now.

I hadn’t wanted to use it until I was sure I could do  great job with it.

Happy with the results.

Happy Woodland Dreams Patchwork Quilt.

Happy Woodland Dreams Quilt is finished

and ready for a new home.

I really enjoyed making this quilt and seeing what evolved from an idea out of a book.

Each block is made with a central fabric..Collection Etoffe Imprevue by Yoko Saito, by Lecien.

All the small pieces of fabric from my stash were carefully selected,

placed and sewn to create a series of pictures

as if from a story book for bedtime reading.

Happy and whimsical is the feeling that comes from this quilt.

It is backed and bound with the lovely Daisy Janie Shades of Grey range,

and filled with 100% wool batting which adds a nice loft to the feel of the quilt.

Very yummy indeed!

I have decided that this quilt is ready for a new home.

Please check it out in my Etsy store…more photos there.

Do check it out..very cute.  It uses those very tempting chevrons.
