Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you all.

Thank you for your spirit of sharing and all the inspiration.

My friend the Gourmet Quilter has been busy over this holiday period

and posted her first video tutorials.

Here is one…

I just went to start writing my own post and couldn’t help but check out Rita’s at Red Pepper Quilts.

What bejeweled magic she creates…Have a look HERE.

Meanwhile, in my garden….

I have been busy further resurrecting the part of the garden around the fish pond…

This involved moving these large and heavy tiles from another part of the garden,

from where another development is planned.

Oh yes..I have been sewing too and finished my quilt made

with my First Jell Roll…Lucy’s Crab Shack from Lori at Stitches N’ Giggles.

Here "tis…

Just helping!!!

I have called this quilt "Summer Beach Holiday" as the prints in this collection contain

bicycles, buntings, flowers, swimsuits on the line reminiscent of happy summer days at the beach.

Speaking of which, we had a great swim in the windy, foamy sea at our beach yesterday

and home for a cup of tea and home made banana cake (chocolate icing of course).

Back Soon

Blog Hop Party Giveaway Winner….

Happy to announce that Margaret from Arkansas

is the lucky winner of the Blog Hop Party Giveaway

organized by Michele at Quilting Gallery.

I have posted off your parcel Margaret and I do hope you enjoy the surprise.

Many thanks to all who entered…I did enjoy your comments each and every one

and sincerely hope that not too many off you needed remedial care after doing the double back flip in the pike position!

Thinking of being stretched…I made a cake yesterday from a recipe that I had not tried before.

I was lucky enough to be able to pick some fresh raspberries from the canes in our garden

and wanted to do something other than just eat them fresh.  I found the recipe for Blueberry Sponge Cake

in Annabel Langbein’s "The Free Range Cook".

This is a gorgeous book!

Of course I swapped the blueberries for my fresh-picked raspberries and just sprinkled organic coconut shavings on top.

I’m glad I checked the cake early as it was browning up for a burn after 35 mins, not the 50-60 mins recommended.

This is how it turned out.

OHHH That was yesterday…and there is only a bit left!

After all that we had a lovely summer sunset.

Enjoy

Salsy.

Blog Hop Party and Summer Giveaway.

Well it is summer here and hot out in my garden.

Thanks to Michele at QUILTING GALLERY

we have another fun Blog Hop Party

with GIVEAWAYS.

Blog Hop Party with Give-Aways

Just last week I had a burst of artistic inspiration and got to work on a fabric art quilted wall hanging.

The starting point were some strips of beautiful Designers Guild fabric that I had left over from my cushion-making splurge a few weeks ago.

I just kept on adding pieces to the montage, including a few bias edges that I had kept (yes I do).

The resulting piece is "Early Evolution From Ocean To Garden"..or just a combination of a few of my passions…marine biology, gardening and colorful fabrics.

A few pieces of Daisy Janie’s organic cotton range "Shades of Grey" made it in to the piece, and it is backed with Zipper Tape from that range too.

The binding is a little Malka Dubrawsky’s Stitch In Color.

Just after taking these photos I went out into my garden..

All is well with my little helpers.

So for my giveaway I will send the lucky winner a small  SURPRISE pack of fabric scraps from my favorite fabrics that could be added to your very own creation.

THIS IS A MYSTERY GIVEAWAY. 🙂

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO TO ENTER IS A DOUBLE BACKWARD FLIP IN PIKE POSITION

OH NO!

JUST LEAVE ME A NICE COMMENT. 🙂 BEFORE  DECEMBER 15.

OF COURSE I AM VERY HAPPY TO POST TO ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD.

HAVE FUN CHECKING OUT THE 150     175 PARTICIPATING BLOGS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD.

ENJOY.

Butterfly Quilt Complete.

All the butterflies in the Butterfly Quilt have settled in to their new life.

Thanks to Rita at Red Pepper Quilts for the inspiration for this butterfly quilt.

Meanwhile, in previous post about my very first Jelly Roll purchase,

I was very excited to have a chance to work with the lovely Lucy’s Crab Shack by Sweetwater for Moda.

I had purchased this from Lori at Stitches ‘N Giggles.

The first thing I did with my new treasure (the Jelly Roll) was to share some of it in a giveaway.

After quite a while deliberating on how to start with the play….here is what came out..

and

I have also been adding a little Malka Dubrawsky to the blocks…couldn’t resist mixing it up a little.

Oh, and just noticed the Daily Deal over at Lori’s at Stitches ‘N Giggles is a Malka Layer Cake…

Soooo tempting!
