Tara Rebman’s Quilt As You Go Patchwork Bags Class on Craftsy.

After really enjoying the free Quilt Con Lecture

series offered by Craftsy,

I was keen to try my first online class.

After much deliberation I chose

 Tara Rebman- Quilt-As-You-Go: Patchwork Bags.

I must say I really enjoyed ‘spending time with Tara’.

The quality of the online videos, templates and course instruction was excellent.

As I am a bit slow to pick up some "how to do…" instruction it was so great to be able to rewind, again

( and again) over the tricky bits to get it down pat.

I am certainly a visual learner..and the video format for me was SOOOooo much easier to follow than a series of still pictures.

I have posted a photo on Flickr..and here are some more.

Pink and green it is!

As you can see I have had fun.  This was my first zipped pocket insert, as well as a simple side pocket.

I have used it a few times now.  Just the other day as I was getting in to The James Cook Hotel lift

a young woman came in with me and said "Great Bag".  Made my day.  This bag just makes me happy though.

A Blog Block is Not The Same Thing as a Sewing Block…

I have thought many a time

that I should get another blog post up….

But there has definitely been a blog block.

Sometimes I think there is nothing much to write about,

and other times just too much and so too overwhelming to know where to start.

Then there is the ‘why bother…nobody reads it anyway’….

Apart from just surviving winter, I have been focusing on work a bit, and so have ordered a few new business cards.

A while ago a friend introduced me to MOO.com which is an excellent place to have your cards printed online.

My friend actually had some Mini cards made up with photos of her own creative works..and the cards looked fabulous.

This time I have opted for the Floral Bouquet template and was so pleased with my first order that I have reordered a second bunch.

One day I would love to have some of the LUXE range as they look super luxurious.

Here is what arrived in the mail….

What a tempting wee package this looks like.

My New MOO Mini Cards.

Well I am a quilter after all.

New Moo Mini Cards.

I have found that these cards disappear pretty quickly out of their holder

and people mostly LOVE to choose from a selection.

So despite the lack of blog posts lately….I have been sewing too…another baby quilt, a full size quilt, and a bag, so there is more to come.

Meanwhile my last Fallow group block for the Simply Solids Bee came out like this…

Quite rich and delicious…cant wait to see the whole quilt.

Nice to be back.

I must say I LOVE this quilt and have been surprised at how the colours combine

and ‘pop’ and float on the grey background.

For the back of the quilt I have chosen a deep fawn which reminded me of fallow ground

resting before allowing an abundance of growth and blossom in the next season.

Do let me know what you think of this one.

The quilt is called "From Fallow To Abundance".

Winter Blues.

It’s so wintery that even my draft post disappeared!

Climbing out slowly from some winter immune system challenges..

I have been to the fabric shop, bought some white cotton fabric,

and completed the July block for the Simply Solids bee.

Here it is..

July Block For Simply Solids Bee.

The request was for something summery..

Looks like I am cooling off from the sun here.

Hope it will be Ok.

Meanwhile, with the cold weather there has been more of this…

I was sure I was here first!

"I was here first!"

The Hottie Project 2013.

The Hottie Project 2013 is a lovely initiative

by Lisa at Big Little.

It has been really fun to take part..

and I have posted three hottie covers off to her this morning.

Here is the link to the The Hottie Project page if you need to refer to the details for postage etc:

Lisa says….With your help, we are hoping we can make winter a little cosier and warmer for a bunch of lovely children by creating a BIG stack of lovely warm hottie covers to keep Christchurch children cosy this winter.  Both crafters and non-crafters contributions to the project are oh-so-welcome 🙂

It started with two

For The Hottie Project.

and then I felt even more creative last night
