Update on Happy Woodland Dreams Quilt.

The Happy Woodland Dreams Quilt is coming along!

I am enjoying the creative process of making the little pictures in the center of each panel.

Amongst the stash treasure that I have been enjoying using is a little Liberty of London Fabric.  Even a little adds a degree of richness into a quilt.

Recently I was given a gorgeous bag from Liberty Art Fabrics…this has rekindled my desire for more.  Especially the new quilting weight cottons.  Have look for yourself.

Happy Scrappy Log Cabin Quilt For Sale

Just listed

on my newly reorganised Etsy Store,  SalsyRose

is the Happy Scrappy Log Cabin Quilt

that I made some time ago.

See previous post..some of the blocks in the making.  http://salsysafranoquilts.com/a-happy-scrappy-log-cabin-quilt.

This was such a fun quilt to make and was inspired at the time by Rita over at Red Pepper Quilts.  She is such an inspiration.

Do go and check it out…this quilt would make a lovely gift.

I am afraid I am just not a natural at this photography business….it has taken me quite some time to get a good photo….

Meanwhile we have had a couple of lovely sunny days again, despite the freezing nights.  Yesterday I had a great walk with a friend, along the beach a little to the north of our place.

Don’t you just love seeing horse hoof prints in the sand?

I have also been pressing on with making blocks for the Happy Woodland Dreams quilt on the go.  A nice stack of them is forming.

Have a Great Day!

Fabric Stash News.

Parcels in the post that include new fabric for the stash,

or  fabric creations…, are my kind of parcels.

A couple of days ago both of these things arrived in my mailbox.

Life keeps throwing us challenges lately, so some light relief has been much appreciated.

First there was a small envelope all the way from Exeter, Devon, England!

This has occurred as part of the ATC (Artists Trading Card) Swap ..see previous post.

Thanks to Teresa these bright treasures are now on our mantlepiece.

The ATCs are entitled "Crazy" and I have 1-4/12.  I wonder where the other 8 will go?

Also in the mail was a parcel I had ordered from sewmeasong/ Becca/ on Etsy.

They are Leaf Stripe in Slate, Collection etoffe imprevue, Yoko Saito, Lecien

Flowers in Purple and Grey by Yuwa of Japan,

Kei Live Birds on Dusty Purple by Yuwa of Japan,

Daiwabo Japan Houses from Pretty Wave by Junko Matsudo,

and Lavender Floral from Isso Ecco for Lecien.

Some of these fabrics have already found their way into some new blocks for the ‘Woodland Dreams" quilt in process.

Progress on Latest Quilt

I have been making good progress on my latest quilt.

As it emerges I am feeling

that it may be called ‘Woodland Dreams"…time will tell.

The central panel of each block is made with the delicious Collection Etoffe Imprevue by Yoko Saito ..Leaf Stripe in Slate.  I do seem to be drawn to the greys lately.  They go so well with other colors. I had only a fat quarter of this when I started.  It soon became apparent that quilt would grow so I have sent off for more.  Perhaps a small pause would be good so that I can rally more inspiration for the next blocks.  So far I don’t know which is my favorite.

What do you think?

It is fun to feature those girls on swings and scooters from Aneela Hoey.

Can you spot those cats watching the deer?

I have sent off to a lovely Etsy store sewmeasong.

Becca there has posted the parcel..I did manage to choose a few other pieces of fabric there while I was at it.  Wouldn’t you?

Meanwhile keep a look out here because Lori (Stitches N’Giggles)  and I are plotting a new Giveaway.

Visit her store HERE for latest ranges and get your fabric wishes lined up.  Coming Soon!

Today I got the email which gave me the details of the person to whom I will send my trading cards.  I can’t tell you of course because it is all "Secret Squirrel". 🙂

The further fun is that I won’t be receiving my ATCs from this person, but from and unknown other…surprise person!

I have made up a few cards and am now worried they may not be good enough?  Oh, does that sound familiar?

Meanwhile, I have been enjoying a great book:

"Modern Blocks: 99 Quilt Blocks From Your Favorite Designers", compiled by Susanne Woods, 2011. Published by Stash Books.

After much time poring over these blocks, and even completing one of them and unpicking it due to bad fabric choice, I have at last headed off in a new direction with inspiration from Monica Wintermantel’s House on The Hill Block.

 Thanks Monica!

So here is my first block all laid out and ready to sew.

Oh I am loving these fabrics!

More to come…and you can get your copy here.
